Резюме: Националната отбранителна стратегия (НОС), приета с Решение 283 на Министерския съвет на 18 април 2016 г. е програмен документ, в чиято основа са залегнали приоритетите на националната сигурност и защитата на националните интереси, определени в Конституцията и Стратегията за национална сигурност на Република България. Тя е съобразена със Стратегическата концепция на НАТО, Европейската стратегия за сигурност и международните договори, по които Република България е страна. НОС е база за разработване на Доктрината на въоръжените сили на Република България и за развитие на доктриналните документи на въоръжените сили (ВС).

Abstract: The National Defense Strategy (NDS) is a program document based on the priorities of national security and protection of national interests set out in the Constitution and the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is in line with NATO’s Strategic Concept, the European Security Strategy and the international treaties to which the Republic of Bulgaria is a party. The NDS is the basis for the development of the Doctrine of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria and for the development of the doctrinal documents of the Armed Forces (AF).
NDA assesses the military-strategic environment, determines the country’s defense goals and outlines the ways to achieve them, describes the tasks of the ministries and departments responsible for the country’s defense, specifies the tasks of the Armed Forces, the forms and methods for their implementation and determines the means and resources needed. It defines the macro framework for the country’s defense and regulates the relationship between the national economy and the country’s defense.
