Col. Associate Professor PhD Eng. Galin IVANOV is the head of the Department of „Security and Defense Management“ at the Faculty of “National Security and Defense” of the Military Academy “G. S. Rakovski”, Sofia and was a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Law and History of the Southwest University “Neofit Rilski”, Blagoevgrad, as well as deputy dean of the Faculty of “National Security and Defense” of the Military Academy “G. S. Rakovski”. He was habilitated in professional direction: 9.1. “National security”, scientific specialty “Organization and management outside the sphere of material production (Security and defense management)”.
Master in Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography, Economics and Military Affairs. He graduated from the elite master’s degree “Strategic management of the defense and armed forces” (general staff course).
He is the author of numerous monographs, books, scientific articles and reports. A career officer with proven practical experience in the field of military affairs and national security. Expert in the management of complex organizations, scenario modeling and human resource management, training, career development and administrative assurance in the national security sector. Participates in numerous research projects and collectives for the development of strategic and doctrinal documents in the field of security and defense. He is a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, Deputy Chairman of the General Assembly of the Military Academy “G. Rakovski”, deputy chairman of the Ethics Commission at the Academy and member of the Board of Trustees of the “G. Benkovski” Higher Air Force School.
Abstract: The article analyzes the transition and change in conceptions of the NATO concept over the last 20 years. The current security environment and applicability in relation to alliance security are analyzed. The challenges facing the economies of NATO member countries related to the allocation of greater defense funds are defined.
